Using the Menus: Shooting Mode

Choose how the camera meters exposure when Intelligent Face Detection is off.

| The camera meters lighting conditions at the center of the frame. Recom- |

| pSPOT | mended when the background is much brighter or darker than the main |

| subject. |

|
| Exposure is set to the average for the entire frame. Provides consistent expo- |
|
| qAVERAGE | sure across multiple shots with the same lighting, and is particularly effective |
|
|
| for landscapes and portraits of subjects dressed in black or white. |

|
FAF MODE
This option controls how the camera selects the focus area for photographs. Regardless of the option selected, the camera will focus on the subject in the center of the frame when macro mode is on.

rCENTER | The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the frame. | |
sMULTI | When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the camera detects | |
subjects near the center of the frame and selects the focus area automatically. | ||

uCONTINUOUS | The camera continuously adjusts focus to reflect changes in the distance to | |
the subject in the focus frame. | ||

xTRACKING | Position the subject in the center focus area and press the selector left. Focus | |
will track the subject as it moves through the frame. | ||

RNote that in uand xmodes, the camera focuses continuously, increasing the drain on the battery, and that the sound of the camera focusing may be audible.
