Inserting the Battery and a Memory Card

Although the camera can store pictures in internal memory, optional SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards (sold separately) can be used to store additional pictures. After charging the battery, insert the battery and memory card as described below.

1Open the battery-chamber cover.

R Be sure the camera is off before opening the battery-chamber cover.

Q Do not open the battery-chamber cover when the camera is on. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to image fi les or memory cards.

QDo not use excessive force when handling the battery-chamber cover.

2Insert the battery.

Insert the battery with the terminal fi rst and in the orientation shown by the label inside the battery chamber, keeping the battery latch pressed to one side. Con- fi rm that the battery is securely latched.

the battery upside down or backwards. The battery will slide in easily in the correct orientation.
