SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE

SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE

To avoid personal injury, disconnect power to air filter when performing any adjustments, clean- ing or maintenance.

Use a respirator when cleaning or changing fil- ters. Dust will become airborne creating a respi- ratory hazard. For safety, run the hanging air fil- ter for at least 6 minutes while wearing the respira- tor after cleaning.

edge clears retaining rim.

Cleaning the Filters

In order to maintain optimal operation, the filters in the double air filter should be checked, cleaned and/or replaced regularly depending on usage. Checking the filters once a week in a small home shop is a good habit. Checking them once a day during heavy use is important. Always wear a respirator when checking the filters.

To check, clean or replace the filters:

1.Disconnect power to the double air filter.

2.Lift the 5-micron primary filter so it can clear the retaining rim; remove and examine care- fully and replace as needed. Figure 9

3.Remove the 1-micron secondary filter, place it inside a trash bag, and gently shake the dust from the filter.

4.The secondary filter can be washed with water to remove the last of the dust and help maximize its filtering effect. DO NOT use compressed air to clean the filter as it will be damaged and lose its filtering capabilities.

5.Be sure the secondary filter is completely dry before installing it into the double air filter.

6.Install a new primary air filter over the sec- ondary filter.

During regular use, the secondary filter can be cleaned several times before it needs to be replaced. It is important to look for holes in the filter that would reduce the filtering effect. Please see the current Grizzly catalog for replacement information.
