Conditional Expressions with IF

Equations can include conditional expressions using the function IF. The syntax of the IF function is:

IFLconditional expression I algebraic expression I algebraic expressionT *

then

or

else

For example, the solver accepts the equation:

JE<4F8;GLF19HF[%(((I&($ B F19HFI&(# B F19HFT"

According to this equation, if SALES is greater than 3000, then the BONUS equals .02 SALES; otherwise (“or else”), BONUS equals

.01 SALES.

Logical Operators. Four logical operators can be used in conditional expressions: AND, OR, XOR, and NOT.

Relational Operators. Six relational operators are available for conditional expressions.

* A conditional expression that contains within it an algebraic expression might

cause the error ;<O19;A HY41:;E<. If this happens, insert a ) before the left parenthesis starting the algebraic expression. For example, change

;GLL1)$TD.Z#$I&&&to ;GL)L1)$TD.Z#$I&&&.
