Removing and Replacing Memory

Before You Begin

Tools Needed:

￿Flathead screwdriver

￿Phillips screwdriver

Flathead screwdrivers

A flathead screwdriver can be used with the screw seen in the following illustration.

CAUTION: Static electricity can damage the electronic components inside the computer. Discharge static electricity by touching the metal cage of the computer before touching any internal parts or electronic components.

Removing Memory

1Press the Power button to turn off the computer.

2Disconnect all cables and remove all items from the computer:

￿Disconnect cables for power, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.

￿Remove items such as memory cards, USB drives, etc.

WARNING:

￿Never open the cover with the power cord attached or power applied. You may damage your computer or be injured from the spinning fan blades.

￿Avoid touching sharp edges inside the computer.

￿Before you open the computer, allow the internal system components to cool before touching.

3Remove the side cover by loosening the screw that connects the cover to the computer.
