Resetting iPod

Most problems with iPod can be solved by resetting it.

1 Connect iPod to a power outlet using the iPod Power Adapter.

2Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again).

3Press and hold the Select and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Identifying Your PC USB Port Type

You can check what type of USB port your PC is using.

1 Click Start on the taskbar.

2 Click Control Panel.

3 Click Performance and Maintenance, if it is present.

4 Double-click System. The System Properties window opens.

5 Click the Hardware tab.

6 Click the Device Manager button. A list of device types appears. (If the list does not display, click View and select the Devices by Type option.)

7 Click the + (plus) box next to the device type name for Universal Serial Bus (USB) controllers (sometimes known as Human Interface Devices) to view the list of device names.

8 If the USB type listed says USB Enhanced Host, then your PC has a USB 2.0 port. USB 2.0 was introduced in 2001. PC models earlier than 2001 probably have USB 1.1 ports. iPod does not support USB 1.1.
