The
Update
Method
field
is
displayed
for
each
property.
It
indicates
whether
a
component
or
agent
restart
is
necessary
to
activate
changed
values.
You
cannot
configure
this
setting.
Setting
standard
connector
properties
To
change
the
value
of
a
standard
property:
1.
Click
in
the
field
whose
value
you
want
to
set.
2.
Either
enter
a
value,
or
select
one
from
the
drop-down
menu
if
it
appears.
Note:
If
the
property
has
a
Type
of
String,
it
may
have
a
subtype
value
in
the
Subtype
column.
This
subtype
is
used
for
extended
validation
of
the
property.
3.
After
entering
all
the
values
for
the
standard
properties,
you
can
do
one
of
the
following:
v
To
discard
the
changes,
preserve
the
original
values,
and
exit
Connector
Configurator,
click
File>Exit
(or
close
the
window),
and
click
No
when
prompted
to
save
changes.
v
To
enter
values
for
other
categories
in
Connector
Configurator,
select
the
tab
for
the
category.
The
values
you
enter
for
Standard
Properties
(or
any
other
category)
are
retained
when
you
move
to
the
next
category.
When
you
close
the
window,
you
are
prompted
to
either
save
or
discard
the
values
that
you
entered
in
all
the
categories
as
a
whole.

To
save
the
revised
values,
click
File>Exit
(or
close
the
window)
and
click
Yes
when
prompted
to
save
changes.
Alternatively,
click
Save>To
File
from
either
the
File
menu
or
the
toolbar.
To
get
more
information
on
a
particular
standard
property,
left-click
the
entry
in
the
Description
column
for
that
property
in
the
Standard
Properties
tabbed
sheet.
If
you
have
Extended
Help
installed,
an
arrow
button
will
appear
on
the
right.
When
you
click
on
the
button,
a
Help
window
will
open
and
display
details
of
the
standard
property.
Note:
If
the
hot
button
does
not
appear,
no
Extended
Help
was
found
for
that
property.
If
installed,
the
Extended
Help
files
are
located
in
<ProductDir>\bin\Data\Std\Help\<RegionalSetting>\.
Setting
connector-specific
configuration
properties
For
connector-specific
configuration
properties,
you
can
add
or
change
property
names,
configure
values,
delete
a
property,
and
encrypt
a
property.
The
default
property
length
is
255
characters.
1.
Right-click
in
the
top
left
portion
of
the
grid.
A
pop-up
menu
bar
will
appear.
Click
Add
to
add
a
property.
To
add
a
child
property,
right-click
on
the
parent
row
number
and
click
Add
child.
2.
Enter
a
value
for
the
property
or
child
property.
Note:
If
the
property
has
a
Type
of
String,
you
can
select
a
subtype
from
the
Subtype
droplist.
This
subtype
is
used
for
extended
validation
of
the
property.
3.
To
encrypt
a
property,
select
the
Encrypt
box.
