Before checking problems with the computer, deter whether the damage is covered under the warrant referring to the following:

During the warranty period, the customer may b responsible for repair costs if the computer d was caused by misuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, or improper maintenance by the customer. The followin list provides some common items that are not cove under warranty and some symptoms that may indica that the system was subjected to stress beyo normal use.

The following is not covered under warranty:

ŸLCD panel cracked from the application of

excessive force or from being dropped.

ŸScratched (cosmetic) parts.

ŸCracked or broken plastic parts, broken latch

	broken pins, or broken connectors caused by
	excessive		force.
Ÿ	Damage	caused by liquid spilled into the s
Ÿ	Damage	caused		by the improper insertion of
	PC Card	or	the	installation	of an incompatible
	card.
Ÿ	Damage	caused		by foreign	material in the F

ŸDiskette drive damage caused by the diske drive cover being pressed or by the inser

diskette	with multiple labels.
Ÿ Damaged	or bent diskette eject button.

ŸFuses blown by attachment of a nonsupported device.

ŸForgotten computer password (making the computer unusable).

The following symptoms might indicate damage caused by nonwarranted activities:

ŸMissing parts might be a symptom of

unauthorized service or modification.

ŸHDD spindles can become noisy from being subjected to excessive force or from bein dropped.

ŸI9990303 errors can be caused by exposure strong magnetic fields.
