The B.E.S.T. (Biconditional Equalised Signal Tracking) system checks the condition of the tape in use during recording and playback, and compensates to provide the highest-possible recording and playback pictures. The default setting for both recording and playback is “ON”.

You can also turn on/off the B.E.S.T. system by simply pressing the B.E.S.T. PICTURE button on the recorder.

1Press B.E.S.T. PICTURE so that the B.E.S.T. PICTURE indicator lights up.

The B.E.S.T. system is activated and the "B.E.S.T." setting at the Function Set screen will also be set to "ON".

2To turn off the B.E.S.T. system, press the B.E.S.T. PICTURE button again so that the B.E.S.T. PICTURE indicator goes off.

The "B.E.S.T." setting at the Function Set screen will

also be set to "OFF".
