Depending on the type of DBS receiver, there may be cases where some or all functions cannot be operated using the remote control.

It's not possible to operate a DBS receiver that is not equipped with a remote control sensor.

Though ECHOSTAR has a number of different remote codes, this remote control is applicable only to one of those codes preset at the factory.

It's not possible to set the remote control for both your DBS receiver and a cable box at the same time. You can only set the remote control to operate one of these units at a time.
