BEFORE CALLING

BEFORE CALLING

FOR SERVICE

 

 

Check the following list to be sure a service call is really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may

help you avoid an unneeded service call.

 

 

 

THE

AIR CONDITIONER

WILL

NOT

OPERATE.

 

Check

 

if...

 

 

 

 

 

Then...

Wall plug disconnected.

 

 

 

 

 

Push plug firmly into wall outlet.

Housefuse blown or circuit breakertripped.

 

 

Replacefuse withtime delay type or reset circuit breaker.

Power is OFF.

 

 

 

 

 

Pushthe power button.

Unit was turned off and then on too quickly.

 

 

Set unit off and wait 3 minutes before restarting.

TEMP Control set warmer than room temperature.

 

Set TEMP Control to lowertemperature.

The current interrupter device is triped

 

 

 

Press the RESET button located on the power cord plug

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH.

Check

 

if...

 

 

 

 

 

Then...

FAN SPEED set at LOW.

 

 

 

 

Push FAN SPEED buttonto set at HI.

TEMP Control set too warm.

 

 

 

 

Set TEMP Control to lowertemperature.

Room temperaturebelow 70 F (21 C).

 

 

 

Cooling may not occur until roomtemperature rises above 70 F (21 C)

Temperature sensing tube touchingevaporator coil,

 

Straightentube away from evaporatorcoil.

located behind front grille.

Then...

Outdoor temperaturebelow 70 F (21 C)

 

 

 

To defrostthe coil, set the MODE to FAN.

Air filter may be dirty.

 

 

 

 

 

Clean air filter. Referto Maintenance section of owner'smanual.

TEMP Control set too cold for night-timecooling.

 

To defrostthecoil,set the MODE to FAN or "High Cool"withthe

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TEMPcontrolto hi.qhertemperature.

Then...

Dirty air filterE)air restricted.

 

 

 

 

Clean air filter. Referto Maintenance section of owner'smanual.

Front of unit is blockedby drapes, blinds,furniture,etc.

 

Clear blockage in front of unit.

Air distribution is restricted.

 

 

 

 

 

Doors, windows, registers, etc. open. Cold air escapes.

 

Close doors, windows, registers, etc.

Unit recently turned on in hot room.

 

 

 

Allowadditionaltimeto removestoredheatfromwalls,ceiling,floor,andfurniture.

Then...

Outsidetemperature is extremely hot.

Soundof fan hittingwaterfrom the moistureremovalsystem.

This is normalwhen humidity is high.Close doors,windows,and registers.

Window vibrationE)poor installation.

WATER DRIPPING INSIDE ROOM WHEN UNIT IS COOLING.
