RDS (Radio Data System)
| |
RDS is a system which transmits useful information (digital data) for FM broadcasts together with the broadcast signal. Tuners and receivers |
|
designed for RDS reception can extract the information from the broadcast signal for use with various functions such as automatic display of | 9 |
the station name. |
(Be sure to set the automatic memory function - otherwise, the RDS function will not work.)
RDS Auto Memory function | 0 |
RDS stations and FM station are automatically selected and stored in the memory (up to 40 stations).
PTY (Program Type Identification) Search (FM band) | # |
The tuner automatically searches for a station which is currently broadcasting a specified program type (genre).
EON (Enhanced Other Network) reservation | % |
When you select one or two of the types of information beforehand, the tuner automatically switches to the station which is broadcasting the program of the reserved information even though you are listening to another station. When the program of the reserved information ends, the tuner returns to the previous station.
RT (Radio Text) indicator: (See below.)
Some RDS stations transmit the text data.
PS (Program Service Name) Display: (See below.)
When an RDS broadcast is received, the station name is automatically displayed.
CT (Clock Time) Display: (See below.)
Some RDS stations transmit clock data along with the broadcast sig- nal.
RT, PS, and CT can be selected with the DISPLAY key. The display may not light, depending on the RDS broadcast station.
