Mode-dial-light indicator statusPicture is too light
or overexposed
■Reposition camera to reduce the amount of available light.
■Turn flash off (page13).
■Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the
effective flash range (page13).
■To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button
halfway. When the AF/AE indicator is green, press the Shutter
button completely down to take the picture.
■Use P mode to adjust the exposure compensati on.
Picture is not clear ■To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button
halfway. When the AF/AE indicator is green, press the Shutter
button completely down to take the picture.
■Clean the lens (page71).
■Make sure camera is not in Macro AF mode if you are more than
24 in. (61 cm) from your subject.
■Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or use a tripo d, especially
in high-zoom settings or in low light.
If... Try one or more of the following
Mode dial light
does not turn on
and the camera
does not work
■Turn on the camera (page3).
■Recharge the battery or install a new one (page2).
■Camera may have turned off automatically. Turn on the camera and
change the auto power-off setting (see page36).
Mode dial light
blinks
■Picture is being processed and saved to the camera. Camera is
operating normally.
■Camera is connected. Camera is operating normally.
■Recharge the battery or install a new one (page2).
Mode dial light
glows steady
■Shutter button is pressed halfway down. Focus and exposure are set.
Camera is operating normally.
■Camera is operating normally.
