Movingyourcomputer
Takethefollowingprecautionsbeforemovingyourcomputer.
1.Backupalllesanddatafromtheharddiskdrive.Thereareavarietyofbackupprogramsavailable
commercially.Y ouroperatingsystemalsomighthaveabackupprogramthatyoucanuse.L enovo

2.Removeallmedia(diskettes,compactdiscs,tapes,andsoon)fromthedrives.
3.Turnoffthecomputerandallattacheddevices.Yourharddiskdriveautomaticallyparksther ead/write
headinanondataarea.Thispreventsdamagetotheharddiskdrive.
4.Unplugthepowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.
5.Disconnectcommunicationcables,suchasmodemornetworkcables,fromtheoutletsrst,andthen
disconnecttheotherendsfromthecomputer.
6.Notewhereanyremainingcablesareattachedtothecomputer;then,removethem.
7.Ifyousavedtheoriginalshippingcartonsandpackingmaterials,usethemtopacktheunits.Ifyouare
usingdifferentcartons,cushiontheunitstoavoiddamage.
