What your server offers

The server uses the following features and technologies:

vBaseboard management controller

The baseboard management controller provides basic service-processor environmental monitoring functions. If an environmental condition exceeds a threshold or if a system component fails, the baseboard management controller lights LEDs to help you diagnose the problem. Critical errors are also included in the error log.

Note: In messages and documentation, the term service processor refers to the baseboard management controller or the optional Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine.

vEasyManage software

ThinkServer EasyManage software helps you maintain high performance while limiting downtime. Through a single console you can monitor and configure alerts for security and performance, perform hardware failure prediction, deploy operating systems and software, and monitor software licenses. You can download and install the EasyManage software from the Lenovo Support Web site (http://www.lenovo.com/support). For installation instructions, refer to the RS110 Installation Guide .

vLarge system-memory capacity

The server supports up to 8 GB of system memory. The memory controller supports error correcting code (ECC) for up to four industry-standard PC2-5300,

667MHz, ECC, double-data-rate (DDR) II unbuffered synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) dual inline memory modules (DIMMs).

vPC-Doctor diagnostic CD

PC-Doctor is a diagnostic program that helps you perform various tests on your system to help identify hardware-related problems. For additional information about the PC-Doctor program, see the Hardware Maintenance Manual . If this CD did not come with the server, complete the following steps to download it.

Note: Changes are made periodically to the Lenovo Web site. The actual procedure might vary slightly from what is described in this document.

1.Go to: http://www.lenovo.com/support.

2.Enter your product number (machine type and model number) or select Servers and Storage from the Select your product list.

3.From Family list, select ThinkServer RS110, and click Continue.

4.Click Downloads and drivers to download firmware updates.

vLenovo EasyStartup DVD

The EasyStartup DVD that comes with the server provides programs to help you set up the server and install a Windows operating system. The EasyStartup program detects installed optional hardware devices and provides the correct configuration programs and device drivers. For more information about the EasyStartup DVD, see the RS110 Installation Guide .

vIntegrated network support

The server comes with two integrated Broadcom Gigabit controllers, which support connection to a 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1000 Mbps network. For more information, see “Configuring the Gigabit Ethernet controllers” on page 46.
