Installing memory

Your computer has two connectors for installing dual inline memory modules (DIMMs) that provide up to a maximum of 4.0 GB of system memory.

When installing memory modules, the following rules apply:

vUse 1.8 V, 240-pin double data rate 2 synchronous dynamic random access memory (DDR2 SDRAM).

vUse 256 MB, 512 MB, 1.0 GB, or 2.0 GB memory modules in any combination up to a maximum of 2.0 GB.

To install a memory module:

1.Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the cover” on page 10.

2.Locate the memory connectors. See “Identifying parts on the system board” on page 12.

3.Open the retaining clips.

4.Make sure that the notch 1 on the memory module aligns correctly with the connector key2 on the system board. Push the memory module straight down into the connector until the retaining clips close.
