Network Addressing
Reserved IP Addresses
Some IP addresses are reserved for special uses and cannot be used for host addresses.
Table A-2 lists ranges of IP addresses and shows which addr esses are reserved, which are
available to be assigned, and which are for broadcast.
Private IP Networks
RFC 1597 reserves three IP network addresses for private ne tworks. The addresses
10.0.0.0/8, 192.168.0.0/16, and 172.16.0.0/20 can be used by anyone for set ting up
their own internal IP networks.
