Closed Captioning Submenu

Mode

The DLW monitor series provides support for three types of Closed Captioning Modes: 608, 708 and 708 (608 Comp.). Use this section to choose which type of stream you would like to decode.

608 Service

The EIA-608 caption protocol defines four channels of caption information. The V-R171X-DLW monitor can only display one of these four channels at any point in time. With the 608 Service selection, you can select which of the four streams to render on the screen.

708 Service

Similar to the EIA-608 caption protocol, the EIA-708 caption protocol can contain multiple streams of captions. These streams are labeled with a service ID. This menu option allows you to select which service to render on the screen.

608 Color

The EIA-608 caption protocol can define the color for the closed caption text. Use this setting to choose between using the color defined by the data stream or to override this data with any of the selected colors.

The default setting for option is Auto.

708 Color

The EIA-708 caption protocol can also define the color for the closed caption text. Use this setting to choose between using the color defined by the data stream or to override this data with any of the selected colors.

The default setting for option is Auto.
