Tip!

Always stand the appliance upright when taking a break from ironing!

Always check the ironing instructions in the clothes before commencing ironing. Always follow the instructions.

Start with clothes that require the lowest temperature and turn up the heat as required.

Always iron synthetic fabrics and silk on the reverse side. This prevents shiny spots on the fabric.

Wool products (100% wool) can be pressed when the appliance is set to steam mode. We recommend using the setting for maximum steam (d.), with a layer of dry fabric between the iron and the item to ironed.

Auto shut-off

To increase safety, the appliance is equipped with an auto shut-off function. The thermostat automatically switches the heat off after 30 seconds if the appliance is lying motionless flat on its soleplate, and after 8 minutes if standing upright on its end.

Once auto shut-off is activated, the indicator light (9) flashes and the appliance beeps five times.

Lift or move the appliance to stop the auto shut-off function, or reset the thermostat by turning the thermostat button to MIN, and then to the desired temperature.

The indicator lamp will go out and the thermostat lamp will light. Continue ironing once the thermostat light goes out again.

After ironing

Remove the plug from the socket.

Empty the water reservoir.

Reconnect to the mains, place appliance upright and let the sole dry until the thermostat lamp goes out.

Allow to cool completely and dry the sole with a damp cloth.

Always store upright, and place a cloth over the sole for protection.

CLEANING

General cleaning

The appliance must not be immersed in water or any other liquid.

Clean appliance (with the exception of the sole) using a damp cloth and a little detergent if necessary.

Never use a scouring sponge or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning the soleplate. Use a well- wrung cloth and warm water.

The spray nozzle can be cleaned using a needle.

Automatic cleaning function

The appliance has an automatic cleaning function, and we recommend its use every 14 days (possibly more frequently if using very hard water) as follows:

Disconnect from the mains (if connected).

Fill the water reservoir to MAX, (see 'Filling with water'), and close the water reservoir cover.

Turn the thermostat button to •••,

and push the function selector to b.

Stand the appliance upright, connect to mains and switch on the power.

Wait until the thermostat light goes out. Hold the appliance horizontally over a sink and push the function selector to the cleaning position (a.). Press hard, as the button can be stiff, and keep your finger on the button.

Hot water and steam will now run out of the holes in the soleplate, and any calcium deposits and impurities will be washed out. Shake the appliance gently from side to side until the water reservoir is empty.

Release the function selector as soon as the water reservoir is empty.

Repeat the cleaning procedure if large quantities of calcium deposits were washed out.

Remove the plug from the socket.

Place the appliance on top of an old tea towel or similar to dry before putting it away.
