Entering TextEntering Text With the Numeric Keypad
Selecting a Text Input Mode
Your phone provides convenient ways to enter letters,
characters, punctuation marks, and numbers whenever
you are prompted to enter text (for example, when
adding a Contacts entry or when using Email and Text
Messaging).
1. From a screen where you can enter text, press
OPTIONS(right softkey) and selectText Modeto
change the text input mode.
2. Select one of the following options:
䡲Abcto cycle through the alpha characters
associated with the letters on the keypad (see
page 27).
䡲Predictive Textto enter text using a predictive text-
entry system that reduces the number of
keystrokes required to enter a word (see page 27).
䡲123to enter numbers by pressing the numbers on
the keypad (see page 28).
䡲Symbolsto enter symbols (see page 28).
䡲Emoticonsto enter emoticons (see page 28).
䡲Settingsto enter messages settings.
Tip For faster text entry in most applications, see
"Entering Text With the QWERTY Keyboard" on
page 29.
Tip When entering text, press the key to change
letter capitalization (Abc>ABC>abc).
