Entering Text
You can enter text into your phone using the
traditional method of pressing a key several times
for each character, or by pres sing a key once for
each letter while words likely to be the one yo u
want are chosen from a database. You can al so
enter symbols and num bers into a text field.
In screens that require you to enter text, you see
the following icons near the top ri ght co r ner. Thes e
icons tell you which text inpu t mode you are using:
When you access a screen that requires you to
enter text, you start in Alpha mo de .
To choose a text input mode:
1At a screen that requires you to enter text, press
m.
2A checkmark appears next to the current text
input mode. Scroll to the text i nput mode you
want to use.
3Press A under Select.

Using Alpha Mode

Press any key on the keypad to enter th e letters,
numbers, and symbols on that key . For exa mple,
to enter the letter Y, press 9 three times.
Type a letter then scroll up to make that letter
uppercase, or type a le tter then scroll down to
make that letter lowercase.

Using Word Mode

In Word mode, T9 Text Input an alyzes the letters
on the keypad button you pres s a nd arr a ng es th em
to create words. As you type, T9 T ext Input
matches your keystrokes to words in its database
and displays the most commonly u s ed matching
word. You can add you o wn words to this
database.

Entering a Word

1Select Word as your text input mode.
lAlpha — Press a key several times for each
character.
jWord — Press a key once for each le tter
while words likely to be the one you want ar e
chosen from a databa se.
iSymbols — Enter punctuatio n and other
symbols.
kNumeric — Enter numbers.
