2 Wire/4 Wire Operation

(Asynchronous/Synchronous Mode)

The modem works over either 2-wire or 4-wire leased lines. To select 4-wire operation, place Switch #16 DOWN (Default); and to select 2-wire operation, place Switch #16 UP.

4-Wire Leased Line	=	Switch #16 DOWN
Factory Default Setting	=	DOWN

8.3Speaker Volume Control

You can adjust the volume of the modem’s phone-line monitor speaker with a volume control knob, located on the back of the modem next to the RS-232C connector (see Figure 9-1 for location). Turn the knob clockwise to increase the modem's volume and counterclockwise to decrease speaker volume.
