The Applications option on the Router Configuration menu allows you to enable or disable various
types of servers. Choosing the Applications option (Option 4) in the Router Configuration menu
displays the Applications Menu.
The Applications Menu displays six server options and allows the user to enable or disable the
servers as necessary. Initially, all the server options are enabled. To then disable a given type of
server, choose the server option number and hit the Enter key; then choose option 2 to disable it.
After all selections are made, the user can return to the Router Management Menu by pressing the
Escape (Esc) key several times, during which the changes are saved. To re-enable one of the server
types, choose its option number and hit the Enter key, then choose option 1 to enable it.
Following are descriptions of each server type and its use.
TFTP Server - The TFTP server is used for transferring configuration and firmware updates across
the IP internetwork. TFTP is a file transfer protocol that uses User Datagram Protocol (UDP) to
provide a simple method for transferring files between two nodes (server and client).
Telnet Server - The Telnet server allows an authorized Telnet client to remotely access the Telnet
server to dial out, view router configuration and statistics, or modify the router configuration, or
remotely modify the user database.
Async Gateway (AG) Server - The AG server is a communications gateway for dial-up
communications. The Telnet client can remotely gain access to the server and control the ports.
Terminal Server - The Terminal server allows an incoming call from a terminal (dumb or intelligent) to
be connected to a Telnet server.
Dumb TTY - The Dumb TTY allows a remote user to connect to the RASFinder’s command port for
configuration and management of the RASFinder.
