Recoil Start
1.Move the throttle lever to the RUN position.
2.Open the fuel cock by turning it clockwise to the down position (Figure 16).

3.Pull the starting handle slowly until you feel some resistance (Figure 17). Return handle to original position.

4.Push down the decompression lever (Figure 18).

5.Pull the starting handle hard and fast to start engine (Figure 19).

6.If the engine does not star t, repeat steps 3 through 5.
When starting with a motor starter, a decompressor is not normally required.
NOTEHowever, when ambient temperature or battery charger level is low, use of a decompressor will help make the
