CONNECTING THE UNIT

For 405FX & 405FXE units, remove the dust cap from the fiber optic connectors and connect the fiber optic cables. The TX port on the 405FX should be connected to the RX port of the far end station. The RX port on the 405FX should be connected to the TX port of the far end station.

For 10/100 Base-TX ports, plug a Category 5 twisted pair cable into the RJ45 connector. Connect the other end to the far end station. Verify that the LNK LED’s are ON once the connection has been completed. For Switch to Switch or Switch to Repeater connections, use the X-port and a standard Category 5 cable. To connect any other port (other than the X-Port) to another Switch or Repeater, use a standard Category 5 crossover cable.

Warning: Creating a port to port connection on the same switch (i.e. loop) is an illegal operation and will create a broadcast storm which will crash the network!

TROUBLESHOOTING

1.Make sure the (Power LED) is ON.

2.Make sure the ! (Error LED) remains OFF 3 seconds after initial power up.

3.Verify that Link LED’s are ON for connected ports.

4.Verify straight through cabling used between stations.

5.Verify crossover cabling used between switches or repeaters (non X-Port only).

6.Verify that cabling is Category 5 for 100Mbit Operation.

7. Verify TX is connected to far end RX and vise versa (405FX/FXE only).

405FXE-ST-YY, 405FX-SC, 405FX-ST, 405FXE-SC-YY specifications

The N-Tron 405FXE-SC-YY, 405FX-ST, 405FX-SC, and 405FXE-ST-YY are advanced series of industrial Ethernet switches developed by N-Tron, a renowned name in network solutions for harsh environments. These devices are engineered to provide robust and reliable connectivity for mission-critical applications in manufacturing, transportation, and other demanding industries.

One of the key features of the N-Tron 405FXE-SC-YY and its counterparts is their support for Gigabit Ethernet on all ports, allowing for high-speed data transfer. This ensures that large volumes of data can be processed efficiently in real-time, making these switches ideal for applications requiring low latency and high bandwidth.

The 405FX series is built with a rugged metal housing, which enhances its resilience against harsh environmental conditions. With an extended operating temperature range, these switches can function in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, making them suitable for deployment in extreme settings, from outdoor installations to facilities prone to temperature fluctuations.

Another important characteristic of the N-Tron series is their advanced Layer 2 switching capabilities. They support various networking protocols such as IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging, which allows for segmented traffic for enhanced security and performance. The switches are also capable of rapid spanning tree protocol (RSTP), improving network redundancy and minimizing downtime.

The inclusion of features like Power over Ethernet (PoE) in models such as the 405FXE-ST-YY enables the powering of devices like IP cameras and access points directly through the Ethernet cable. This simplifies installation and reduces the need for additional power supplies, which is particularly advantageous in expansive networks.

Furthermore, the N-Tron 405FX series boasts plug-and-play functionality for easy installation and maintenance. The switches come equipped with LED indicators that provide real-time status updates, facilitating quick troubleshooting.

In summary, the N-Tron 405FXE-SC-YY, 405FX-ST, 405FX-SC, and 405FXE-ST-YY series stand out for their high-speed performance, robust build quality, and advanced networking features. They provide a reliable solution for industrial environments that require seamless connectivity and minimal downtime, ensuring critical operations can continue without interruption.
