Appendix C Troubleshooting NI PXI-CardBus-8310 Cards

If the problem occurs consistently, please contact National Instruments for
technical support.
Issue: The application or program failed to communicate with the PXI
device card during an operation.
• Make sure the PXI chassis is properly powered.
• Check the LED lights on the NI PXI-8310 card.
– No LEDs lit on the NI PXI-8310 card.
• Re-insert the NI CardBus-8310 card.
• Re-seat both cable connections.
• Swap cables or reverse both end connections.
• Use another cable of the same length.
• If you are using a long cable, try using a shorter one.
– LEDs flashing on the NI PXI-8310 card.
• Eject the NI CardBus-8310 card and re-insert it.
• Power down the laptop and the chassis system. Power up the
chassis and then the laptop.
– Only part of the LEDs are lit.
This may be defective hardware. Please call customer service for
support.
• Go to Windows Device Manager»View»Devices by connection,
expand the device branches to see if there is yellow exclamation mark
(error) in front of the card.
– If there is yellow exclamation mark (error) in front of the card:
• Double-click on the device to find out the Error Code number.
(Refer to the Error Code (Yellow Exclamation Mark) in
Device Manager section at the end of this appendix for more
information.)
– If there is no yellow exclamation mark (error) in front of the card:
• Re-install the driver for the third party card using the
manufacturers installation instructions.
Note You may want to check the manufacturer’s web site to see if there are any
installation/driver updates for the device.
