YourRT Series DAQdevice is installed. You are now ready to configure
your software.

PXI Installation

Complete the following steps to install your RT Series PXI board.
1. Turnoff and unplug your computer.
2. Choose twoadj acent unused PXI slots in your system.
3. Removethe filler panels for the slots you have chosen.
4. Insert the RTSeries DAQ board into the 5 V PXI slots. Use the
injector/ejector handle to fully insert the board into the chassis.
5. Screwthe front panel of the RT Series DAQ board to the front panel
mounting rail of the system.
6. Plug in and turn on your computer.
YourRT Series DAQdevice is installed. You are now ready to configure
your software.
Board Configuration
Because ofthe National Instruments standard architecture for data
acquisition and the PCI and PXI bus specifications, the RT Series DAQ
devices are completely software configurable.
The PCI RTSeries DAQ devices are fully compatible with the industry
standardPCI Local Bus Specif ication Revision2.0. The PXI RT Series
DAQdevices are fully compatible with the PXI Specification Revision 1.0.
Thiscompatibil ity allowsthe PCI or PXI system to automatically perform
allbus-related configurations and requires no user interaction.
DAQ-relatedconfiguration includes such settings as analog input polarity
and range, analog input mode, and so on. Youalso can configure virtual
channels,S CXI, and DAQaccessories. You can modify these settings
through Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) or through
LabVIEW RTand NI-DAQ.
Afteryou install y our RTSeries DAQ device, double-click the
Measurement & Automation Explorer icon on your desktop. MAX finds
the RTSeries DAQ device and any other DAQdevices you have in your
systemand assigns d evicenumbers to them. The RT Series DAQ device
appearsi nM AX as shownin Figure 2-1.
