Engine Box Cover Latching/Lifting/Removal

Two rubber latches (A) hold the top of the engine box to the base. Pull on the top of these latches and the upper part or the engine box will release. Lift up on the engine box handle and the gas shocks will help you lift the engine box. This “clam-shell” design allows you to check the engine without lifting the entire engine box. You can leave the top open to dry the bilge.

!WARNING An engine guard which is not in place or contact with any moving parts can cause death or serious injury. The engine box cover is a machinery guard. DO NOT operate your boat without the cover closed and in place unless you are performing a check or maintenance. Keep your hands, clothing, hair and any other body parts away from any moving parts.

To remove the engine box cover, open the cover to expose the fore engine box cover base straps (B) and the aft engine box cover base anchoring pins (C). Pull the fore straps (B) up and off the securing pins, pull the aft anchoring pins (C) out and slide the cover back. When reinstalling the cover, make sure the aft anchoring pins and fore straps are secured in their anchoring position, then close the cover and secure the rubber latches (A).
