The Expert Analysis Wireless EventsButton
ExpertMod ecan be used in both real time and post-capture:
• Forreal-time analysis, when capturing packets, select the View icon
fromPacket Capture. Then select th e Expert Analysis tab at the bottom of
thedecodedisplay.
• Forp ost-captureanalysis, open a (previously captured)buffer and select
the"Expert Analysis" tab at the bottom of the decode display.
TheExpert A nalysistab includes a Wireless Events button on the toolbar
alongthe left of the display. Observer tracks network conditions between
wirelessstations and logs:
• Thestation sending and the st ationreceiving the wireless event.
• A color-coded status indicator showing the critical ity of the event (each
level of criticality can be configured by clicking the Ex pert Thresholds
iconto the left of the Expert Analysis window.
• Thenumber of packets going in each direction for the event.
• Thenumber of association attempts from the sending and receiving
stations.
• Cyclical Redundancy Check/Physical Layer Convergence Protocol
(CRC/PLCP)er rorsreported on the sending and receiving stations.
• EquivalencyPrivacy (WEP) encryption/decryption errors reported on
thesending and receiving stations.
Expert Analysis also displays the following conditions: wea ks ignal and low
signalquality per station, missed ACKs, failedassociations, and whether
WEP is used on a partic ular AP or station.
