Exposure Compensation

To obtain the desired results with certain subject compositions, it may be necessary to use exposure compensation to alter exposure from the value suggested by the camera. As a rule of thumb, positive compensation may be needed when the main subject is darker than the background, negative values when the main subject is brighter than the background.

Taking

1 Pressing the button, rotate the main command dial and confirm exposure com- pensation in the top control panel or the viewfinder (in the viewfinder, positive values are shown by a icon, negative values by a icon). Exposure compensation can be set to values between –5 EV (underexposure) and +5 EV (overexposure) in increments of 1 3 EV.

At values other than ±0, the 0 at the center of the electronic analog exposure displays will flash and a icon will be displayed in the control panel and viewfinder after you

release the button. The current value for exposure compensation can be confirmed in the electronic analog exposure display or by

pressing the button.
