P: Programmed Auto

In this mode, the camera sets shutter speed and aperture for optimal ex- posure. This mode is recommended for snapshots and other situations in which little time is available for adjusting camera settings.

1 Rotate the mode dial to P.

2 Frame a photograph, focus, and shoot.

Flexible Program

In mode P, different combinations of shutter speed and aperture can be selected by rotating the com- mand dial (“flexible program”). All combinations produce the same exposure. While flexible program is in effect, a icon appears in the control panel. To restore the default shutter speed and aperture, rotate the command dial until the icon is no longer dis- played.
