Notes about Face Detection

Depending on shooting conditions, such as whether or not the subject is facing the camera, faces may not be detected.

The camera may be unable to detect faces in the following situations:

-When faces are partially hidden by sunglasses or other obstructions

-When faces take up too much or too little of the frame

When there are multiple people in the frame, the face on which the camera focuses depends on a variety of shooting conditions, such as whether or not the subject is facing the camera.

In some cases, included those noted in “Autofocus performance” (A 23), autofocus may not perform as expected, and the subject may not be in focus

despite the fact that the double border glows green. When the camera is unable to focus, use another mode, such as A (auto) mode, focus on another subject positioned at the same distance from the camera as the actual portrait subject, and use focus lock (A 27).
