DAvailable Functions in A(Auto) Mode

Image quality/Image size Current image quality and size settings are displayed. The default settings are W (Normal) for image quality and F(3,264 × 2,448) for image size.

Mode Auto Playback: and Photography Basic

In A(auto) mode, focus mode (A31) and exposure compensation (A32) can be applied and the camera can shoot using the flash mode (A28) and self-timer (A30). Pressing ddisplays the shooting menu options for specifying the image quality (A76) and image size (A77).

DVibration Reduction

Vibration reduction (A105), when On (default setting) is selected, can be applied to effectively reduce blur, caused by slight hand movement known as camera shake, that commonly occurs when shooting with zoom applied or at slow shutter speeds.

Set Vibration reduction to Off when using a tripod to stabilize the camera during shooting.

To reduce the effects of camera shake when recording movies, enable Electronic VR (A56) from the movie menu (A55).

DShutter Speed and Aperture

Shutter speed and aperture settings, adjusted by the camera to suit shooting conditions, are displayed.

In M (manual) mode (A44), shutter speed and aperture can be specified manually.
