Hardware ID

The Hardware ID screen is for expert users and system administrators. It can be used to select the Media Access Control (MAC) address that the MVC 2050 reports to the communication server.

The Hardware ID being used by MVC 2050 can be viewed on the MVC 2050 Settings > Hardware ID tab. See Figure 36.

The Hardware ID is generated by reading MAC addresses from the PDA NIC. When the MVC 2050 is used with most server types, the Hardware ID it uses must be unique. Some software, such as VPN client software, creates artificial network interfaces with MAC addresses that are common
