Choosing a focus target (AF target)
Choose which of the 35 autofocus targets will be used for autofocus.1

•You can choose from the following three target types. Press the INFO button and use FG.

Focus lock
If the camera is unable to focus on your chosen subject, select single target mode and use focus lock to focus on another subject at about the same distance.

•Make sure that the AF confirmation mark is lighting up.
•Focus locks while the shutter button is pressed halfway.
2 Keeping the shutter button pressed halfway, recompose the photograph and then press the shutter button the rest of the way down.
•Do not change the distance between the camera and the subject while pressing the shutter button halfway.
Quick AF target selection
You can save the selected AF target for quick recall using the Fn or Rbuttons.
•Select the AF target using [PSet Home] (P. 82).
•Use [;Function] or [RFunction] to assign this function to the button. [Button Function]: g“Customizing camera settings” (P. 81)
Toggling quickly between AF and MF
The Fn or Rbutton can be used to toggle [MF].
