The current listening mode appears in the display when the button is pressed once, then each press of the button changes the listening mode as follows:

“3 Stereo” stands for DOLBY 3 STEREO.
–Skipped if both the center speaker field and surround left and right speaker field are set to “0” on page 18, or if “Speaker 2ch” is selected on page 19.

A tip to apply a DSP mode to the DOLBY DIGITAL Surround sound of a DVD video
You can change the format of the sound signal being output to the speakers and output jacks using the menu (see page 48).
This means, for example, even if DOLBY DIGITAL Surround sound is played by the DVD Receiver, you can output sound to the speakers in the 48 kHz/16 bit format, which lets you to use the DSP sound effects instead of DOLBY DIGITAL Surround.
