POWER SOURCES

You can power your CD player from:

Two AA batteries

Standard AC power, using an AC adapter

A vehicle’s battery power, using a DC adapter

USING BATTERIES

You can power your CD player from battery power using:

Two AA alkaline batteries (such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-552)

Two special AA rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (RSU No. 11672508, available through your local RadioShack store).

You can charge these batteries while they are in the battery com- partment using an AC or DC adapter. (See “Using AC Power” on Page 7 or “Using Vehicle Bat- tery Power” on Page 8.)

Two standard AA rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-125).

Your CD player does not recharge standard AA rechargeable batter- ies inside its battery compartment, but you can charge them with an external battery charger (Cat. No. 23-133).

Cautions:

Use only fresh batteries of the re- quired size and recommended type.

Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (stan- dard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of differ- ent capacities.

All types of nickel-cadmium batteries come fully discharged. Be sure to fully charge the batteries before you use them the first time.

Charging Tips

It takes about 14 hours to charge fully discharged nickel-cadmium batteries in the CD player while it is not being used to play CDs.

When the nickel-cadmium batter- ies fully charge, unplug the adapter from the AC outlet or cig- arette-lighter socket, then discon- nect the adapter from the CD player.

You can play a CD while recharg- ing the special nickel-cadmium batteries; however, this will cause the batteries to recharge more slowly.

Always keep the charging termi- nals on the rechargeable batteries clean. Use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to clean the terminals.

Under normal usage conditions, nickel-cadmium batteries can be recharged about 500 times.
