DAvailable Functions in A(Auto) Mode

In A (auto) mode, macro mode (A 31) and exposure compensation (A 32) can be applied and pictures can be shot using the flash mode (A 28) and self-timer (A 30). Pressing d in A (auto) mode allows you to specify settings for all shooting menu items (A 81).

DVibration Reduction

[Vibration reduction] (A 109), when [On] (default setting) is selected, can be applied to effectively reduce blur, caused by slight hand movement known as camera shake, that commonly occurs when shooting with zoom applied or at slow shutter speeds.

Turn vibration reduction (A 109) [Off] when using a tripod to stabilize the camera during shooting. To reduce the effects of camera shake when recording movies, enable [Electronic VR] (A 58) from the movie menu (A 56).

DAuto Power-Off in Shooting Mode (Standby Mode)

The monitor will dim to reduce the drain on the battery if no operations are performed for about five seconds. The monitor will brighten when camera controls are used. At default settings, the monitor will turn off altogether if no operations are performed for about a minute during shooting and playback. The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for another three minutes (A 111).
