Troubleshooting (Advanced)
zIn the following cases, it is not possible to turn off using [Manual Switching] of the Optical Disc Drive Power-Saving Utility:
• When WinDVD is running
• During writing or reading of a disc
• When the drive is being used by an application such as Roxio Creator LJB

Cannot eject disc
zCheck that the computer is turned on.
The drive power/open switch works only when the computer’s power is on.
When [Optical Drive Power] is set to [Off] in the Setup Utility, it is not possible to open the disc cover unless Windows is
running.
zPress the center of the disc cover to confirm that the disc cover is locked firmly.
The disc cover will only open if it is in the firmly locked position.
zTo remove a disc when the computer is turned off, insert a pointed object (e.g., the bent-out tip of a paper clip, or the tip of
a pencil or ballpoint pen) into the emergency hole on the bottom, and then move (Î page 55).
The sound is not heard
zTry changing the mute by pressing

zWith the following procedure, check that the Windows sound function is operating.

displays the pop-up icon shown on the right, but there is no

Click [start] - [Control Panel] - [Performance and Maintenance] - [System] - [Hardware] - [Device Manager].
BDouble-click [Sound, video, and game controllers] and check if is displayed.
If is displayed, click the driver for which is shown, press
Del
, and click [OK] in the confirm deletion screen.
Then restart the computer.
To change the volume

(to increase the volume).
The audio is distorted
zDuring audio playback, operating a key with
Fn
may cause distortion of the sound. Stop playing and start again.
