Advanced (Recording pictures)

=[WHITE BALANCE]

For details on [REC] mode menu settings, refer to P21.

In sunlight, under incandescent lights or in other such conditions where the color of white takes on a reddish or bluish tinge, this item adjusts to the color of white which is closest to what is seen by the eye in accordance with the light source.

[AWB]:

Automatic adjustment

[V]:

When taking pictures outdoors under a clear sky

[Ð]:

When taking pictures outdoors under a cloudy sky

[î]:

When taking pictures outdoors in the shade

[Ñ]:

When taking pictures under incandescent lights

[Ò]:

When using the preset white balance

[ SET ]:

When using the preset color temperature setting

The optimal white balance will differ depending on the type of halogen lighting being recorded under so use [AWB] or [Ò].

The white balance setting is memorized even if the camera is turned off. (However, the white balance setting for a Scene Mode returns to [AWB] when the Scene Mode is changed.)

In the Scene Modes listed below, white balance is fixed to [AWB].

Setting the white balance manually

This will set the values for the white balance. Use it in accordance with the recording conditions.

1Select [Ò] and then press 1.

2Aim the camera at a sheet of white paper etc. so that the frame in the center is filled by the white object only and then press [MENU/SET].

Finely adjusting the white balance

[ ]

You can finely adjust the white balance when you cannot acquire the desired hue by setting the white balance.

• It can be set from the quick menu (P22).

1Select [WHITE BALANCE] and then press 1

Press 1 again if [Ò] or [ SET ] is selected.

2Touch within the frame to finely adjust.

You can finely adjust also by touching [G_]/[M`]/[A]/[B], or pressing 3/4/2/1 of the cursor button.

2: A (AMBER: ORANGE)

1 : B (BLUE: BLUISH)

3 : G_ (GREEN: GREENISH)

4 : M` (MAGENTA: REDDISH)
