PROBLEM SOLUTION
A DVD+RW disccannot be played oncertain DVD players
bIf a recording is too short, it is possible that a DVD player cannot detect it: Please observe the following
'Minimum recording times':
Recording mode 'M1': 5 minutes, 'M2': 10 minutes, 'M2x': 13 minutes, 'M3': 15 minutes, 'M4': 20 minutes,
'M6': 30 minutes, 'M8': 30minutes,
bSome DVD players cannot play back DVD+RW recordings. You can solve this problem by using a special
function:
1Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J. Insert the disc but do not close the tray.
2Hold down the number button 2on the remote control until the tray closes. The disc is
modified.
3You can restore the disc to its original condition by pressing 1.
Warning!
There is a risk that you can no longer play the discon other DVD players after thisprocedure.
Therefore, apply this function with particular care.
Other disc errors(DVD+RW)
bIf it is impossibleto play back a disc, you can try and repair it for new recordings using the following function.
This will only prepare the disc for erasing. It will not be erased, however, until the recording has been
completed.
1Clean the disc
2Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J. Insert the disc but do not close the tray.
3Hold down the red function button on the remote control until the traycloses. The disc is
prepared for erasing.
4Start recording as with an empty disc.
Other disc errors(DVD+R), 'Disccontains unknowndata' interruption of arecording (poweroutage)
bThis message may appear if you instert a DVD+R that was not finalized or an error occurs during the
recording. DVD+R's that have not been finalized are very sensitive to fingerprints,dust, or dirt. This may
cause problems during recording.
To use the disc again, follow the next steps
1Make sure that the surface of the disc is clean.
2Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J. Insert the defect DVD+R but do not close
the tray.
3Hold down 5on the remote control until the tray closes. The disc will be read ('READING'
appears on the display) and the DVD recorder will start the repairprocess. This may take up
to four times as much time as the recording, in which the error occurred.
4If the disc is recovered, the index screen will appear.
Please observe the following:
The recovering procedure is successfully only if there was a previous recording on the disc.
Error during recording: The title may be missing.
Error while changing the title/index picture: The original title/index picture may be visible.
Error while finalizing: The disc appears not to have been finalized.
The index screenflickers when a DVD+Ris inserted
bYou can finalize the disc using the following function:
1Open the disc tray with OPEN/CLOSE J. Insert the defect DVD+R but do not close
the tray.
2Hold down 4on the remote control until the tray closes.
'FINALIZING' appears in the display. Finalizing begins. This may take up to three minutes.
3If finalizing has been successful, the index screen will appear.
