HDMI output with DVD-Audio sources

DVD-Audio sources often have high sample rates (such as 192kHz/24bit/2 channel or 96kHz/24bit/ 6 channel) and the way they are output from the HDMI terminal will depend on the specification of the connected component.

*1 This unit checks the specification of the connected component (such sample rate / multi- channel limitations and CPPM compatibility) and outputs the signal accordingly. Note that ‘DVD Audio compatible’ indicates compatibility with CPPM (Content Protection for Pre-recorded Media).

*2 If HDMI Audio setting (page 39) is set to LPCM (2 CH) , multichannel sources will be downmixed to stereo. (In cases where the source is downmix-prohibited, only the front left/right channels are output.)

If the video output resolution is 480i, 576i, 480p or 576p, audio output may be limited to 2 channel (depending to the connected component).

*3 In cases where the source is downmix-prohibited, only the front left/right channels are output.

*4 If CPPM shows in the front panel display, it means it is not possible to output CPPM copycon- trolled DVD-Audio sources from the HDMI connection. Discs with no CPPM protection are limited to 2 channel output.
