This unit is for ve hicle s with a 12-vol t ba ttery and nega tive grou ndi ng. Befor e installing it in a
recreational vehicle, truck, or bus, check the battery voltage.
To avoi d shorts in the e le ct ri ca l syst em , be sure to disconne ct the battery cabl e before be ginning
installation.
Secure the wiring wi th cable clam ps or adhesive ta pe. To prote ct the w iring, wrap adhesi ve ta pe
arou nd them wh ere they lie a g ai ns t meta l parts .
Route and secure all wiring so it cannot touch any moving parts, such as the gear shift, handbrake and
seat rails. Do not route wiring in places that get hot, such as near the heater outlet. If the insulation of
the wiring melts or get s torn, there is a da nger of the wiri ng short-cir cuiting to the vehi cl e body.
Don't pass the yellow lead through a hole into the engine compartment to connect to the battery. This
will dam a ge the lead insulation and ca use a very dan ge rous short.
Do not sho r te n any lea ds. If yo u do, the protect ion circuit may fa il to work when it sho ul d.
Never fee d power to other equipment by cut ti ng the insula tion of the po wer supply le ad of the uni t
and tap p ing into t he lead. The current c apacit y of the lea d wil l be exceede d, causing ov erheati ng.
When re pl acing fuse , be sure t o use only fuse of t he rating presc ribed on this unit.
Since a unique BP TL ci rcuit is em ployed , ne ve r wire so the spea ke r leads are dire ctly grou nde d or
the left and right speaker leads are common.
The black lead is ground. Please ground this lead separately from the ground of high-current products
such as power amps.
If you ground the products together and the ground becomes detached, there is a risk of damage to the
products or fire.
Speake rs con nected to th is uni t m ust be hi gh-power typ es po sse ssin g minimum rat in g of 40 W and
impedance of 4 to 8 ohms. Connecting speakers with output and/or impedance values other than those
noted here can damage the speakers.
When a n externa l power amp is being used with thi s system , be sure not to c onnect th e blue/wh it e
lead to the amp's power terminal. Likewise, do not connect the blue/white lead to the power terminal
of the auto-antenna. Such connection could cause excessive current drain and malfunction.
To preve nt inc orrect co nne ction, the inpu t side of the IP-BUS conne ct or is blue, and the outpu t side
is black. Conne ct the connect ors of the same colo rs correctly.
If this unit is instal l ed i n a ve hicle th at does not have an ACC (acc essory) positi on on the ignitio n
switch, the red lead of the unit shoul d be connected to a t erm i nal coupl ed with ign it ion swit ch ON/
OFF operations. If this is not done, the vehicle ba tter y may be dra ined whe n yo u are awa y fro m the
vehicle for seve ral hours.
