7. Place chain over and behind clutch, fit-
ting the drive links in the clutch drum
sprocket.
8. Fit bottom of drive links between the
teeth in the sprocket in the nose of the
guide bar.
9. Fitc haindr ive links into bar groove.
10. Pull guide bar forward until chain is snug
in guide bar groove. Ensure all drive
links are in the bar groove.

NOTE: CHAIN BRAKE MUST BE

11. Now, install c hain brake making sure the
adjusting pin is positioned in the lower
holein the guide bar. R ememberthi s pin
movesthe bar forward and backward as
thesc rew is turned.
12. Install chain brake nuts and fi nger tight-
en only. Once the chain is tensioned,
youwill need to tighten chain brake nuts.

CHAINTENSION

NOTE: When adjusting chain tension,
make sure the chain brake nuts are finger
tight only. Attempting to tension the chain
when the chain brake nuts are tight can
cause damage.

Checking the tension:

Usethe screw driver end of the chain adjust-
menttool (bar tool) to move the chain around
thebar. If the chain does not r otate,i t is too
tight.Iftoo loose, the chainwill sag belowthe
bar.

Adjustingthe tension:

Chain tension is very important. Chain
stretches duringuse. This is especial ly true
duringthe fi rst few times you use your saw.
Always check chain tension each time you
useand r efuel your saw.
Youcan adjust the chain tension by loosen-
ing the chain brake nuts and turning the ad-
justingscrew 1/4 of a turn while lifting up on
thebar.
SIfchain is too tight, turnadjusting sc rew1/4
turncounter clockwise.
SIf chain is too loose, turn adjusting screw
1/4turn cl ockwise.

SLift up the tip of the bar and tighten the
chain brake nuts with the bar tool.
SRecheck chain tension.
