BARMAINTENANCE

Ifyour saw cuts to one side, has to be forced
throughthe cut, or been runw ith anim proper
amount of bar lubrication it may be neces-
sarytoservice your bar. A worn bar will dam-
ageyour chai n and make cutting difficult.
After each use, ensure ON/STOP switch is
inthe STOP positi on, then clean all sawdust
fromthe gui de bar and sprocket hole.
Tomaintain guide bar:
SMoveON/STOP switch to the STOP posi-
tion.
SLoosenand remove c hain brake nuts and
chain brake. Removebar and chain from
saw.
SClean the oil holes and bar groove after
each5 hour s of operation.

SBurring of guide bar rails is a normal
process of rail wear. Remove these burrs
witha flat file.
SWhenrail top is uneven, use a flat file to re-
store square edges and sides.

Replace guide bar when the groove is worn,
theguide bar is bent or cracked, or when exce-
ss heating or burring of the rails occurs. If re-
placementi s necessary, use only the guidebar
specified for your saw in the repair parts list or
onthedecallocatedonthechainsaw.

CHAINSHARPENING

Chainsharpening i s a complicated task that
requires special tools. We recommended
yourefer chain sharpening to a professional
chain sharpener.

IGNITION TIMING

Ignitionti ming is fixed and nonadjustable.

SPARKPLUG

The spark plug should be replaced each
year to ensure the engine starts easier and
runsbetter.
1. Loosen3 s crews on cylinder c over.
2. Removethe cylinder c over.
3. Pull offthe spar k plug boot.
4. Remove spark plug from cylinder and
discard.
5. Replacewi th Champion RCJ--7Yspar k
plugand tighten securely with a 3/4 inch
(19mm) s ocket wrench. Spark plug gap
should be 0.025 inch (0.6 mm).
6. Reinstall the spark plug boot.
7. R einstall the cylinder cover and 3
screws. Tighten securely.

STORAGE

WARNING: Stopengine and allow
tocool, and secure the unit before storing or
transportingi n a vehicle. Store unit and fuel
in an area where fuel vapors cannot reach
sparks or open flames from water heaters,
electric motors or switches , furnaces, etc.
Storeunit with all guards inpl ace. Position so
that any sharp object cannot accidentally
causeinj ury to passersby. Store the unitout
ofr eachof c hildren.
SBeforestori ng, drain all fuel from the unit.
Startengine and all ow to run until it st ops.
SCleanthe uni t before storing. Pay parti cu-
larattention to the air intake area, keeping
it free of debris. Use a mild detergent and
spongeto clean the pl astic surfaces.
SDonot store theunit or fuel in a closed area
wherefuel vapor s can reach sparks or an
openflame from hotwater heaters, electric
motors or switches, furnaces, etc.
SStore in a dry area out of the reach of chil-
dren.
CAUTION:It is important to prevent gum
depositsfrom forming in essentialfuel system
parts such as the carburetor, fuel filter, fuel
hose, or fuel tank during storage. Alcohol
blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol
or methanol) can attract moisture which leads
to fuel mixture separation and formation of
acids during s torage. Acidic ga s can damage
the engine.
