Time/Segment Time display—When the manual mode or the iFIT.com mode is se- lected, this display will

show the elapsed time.

When a personal trainer program or a heart rate program is selected, the display will show both the time remaining in the program and the time re- maining in the current segment of the program. The display will alternate between one number and the other every few seconds. The Segment Time indicator will light when the segment time is shown.

Calories/Fat Cals./Heart

Rate display—This display shows the approximate numbers of calories and fat calories you have burned (see

FAT BURNING on page 25). Every few seconds, the display will change from one number to the other. The Fat Cals. indicator will light when the number of fat calories is shown. This display will also show your heart rate when you use the hand- grip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sen- sor.

Speed/Min-Mile display—This display shows the speed of the walking belt and your current pace (pace is

measured in minutes per

mile). Every few seconds, the display will change from one number to the other. The Min/ Mile indi- cator will light when your pace is shown.

Note: The console can display speed and dis- tance in either miles or kilometers. To find which unit of measurement is

selected, hold down the

Stop button while inserting the key into the con- sole. An “E” for English miles or an “M” for metric kilometers will appear in the Speed/Min-Mile dis- play. Press the Speed button to change the unit

of measurement. When the desired unit of mea- surement is selected, remove the key and then reinsert it. Note: For simplicity, all instructions in this manual refer to miles.

To reset the displays, press the Stop button, re- move the key, and then reinsert the key.

6 Measure your heart rate if desired.

Note: Before using the handgrip pulse sensor, make sure that your hands are clean.

To measure your heart rate, stand on the foot rails and hold the metal contacts on the handrail— avoid

moving your hands. When your

pulse is detected,

the Heart Rate indicator beside the Calories/Fat Cals./Heart Rate display will light, two or three dashes (– – –) will appear, and then your heart rate will be shown. For the most accurate heart rate reading, continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds.

The incline must be at the lowest setting when the treadmill is folded to the storage posi- tion or the treadmill will be damaged. Next, re- move the key from the console and put it in a se- cure place. Note: If the displays and various indi- cators on the console remain lit after the key is removed, the console is in the “demo” mode. See page 20 and turn off the demo mode.

When you are finished using the treadmill, move the on/off switch near the power cord to the off position and unplug the power cord.
