TROUBLE CHECKS

Poor radio reception

Compact disc will not play

Compact disc sound skips

Distorted or noisy recordings

Remote control does not work

l Check AM/FM antenna connections.

lAdjust antenna position for better reception.

lTry turning off electrical appliances near the unit - including hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, and fluorescent lights.

lBe sure the disc tray contains a disc.

lAssure that all discs are inserted label side up.

lClean discs as explained in “Care and Maintenance.”

lPress HI (PLAY/PAUSE) to begin play from pause or stop mode.

lBe sure CD source button is selected.

lClean the disc as explained in “Care and Maintenance.”

lCheck for warping, scratches, or other damage to the disc. Do not insert damaged discs into the disc tray.

lCheck for vibration or shock that may affect the CD player. If necessary, move it to a different location.

lInspect recording heads. Clean them, if necessary, using pro- cedures explained in “Care and Maintenance.”

l Demagnetize recording heads following steps explained in “Care and Maintenance.”

lBe sure the CD player is plugged into a working AC outlet.

lPress POWER button to assure that the system is set to POWER ON mode (display is lit).

lPress the function button qn the remote that activates the desired

component: TUNER, TAPE, CD or AUX.

lReplace batteries if they are weak. Assure that batteries face in the directions indicated inside the battery chamber of the remote control.

lPoint the remote control directly at the SENSOR eye while press- ing buttons.

lMove closer to system while using the remote control.

lBe sure there are no obstacles between the remote and the system.
