Using the Record Safety Tab

Most video cassette tapes have a safety tab that prevents accidental erasure. The safety tab is on the end of the tape opposite from where the arrow points.

The tab must be intact to record. You can record over and over on the same tape as long as the tab is intact. If you want to protect a tape from accidental erasure, break off the tab with a screwdriver, as shown here.

If you wish to erase a record- ed tape or to record on a cas- sette with the tab removed, cover the hole with cello- phane tape.

Sending Tapes to Another Country

Because various TV standards are used throughout the world, we recommend that you check for compatibility before sending your tapes to a foreign country. Tapes made on machines sold in the U.S.A. can be played back only on units that use the NTSC television system.
