Starting the recording mode

Normal( ) focus mode

The focus range is 1.0m ~ infinity. No icons will display on the LCD monitor when you select this focus mode.

To prevent the image from being dim, maintain the focus range at 1.0m ~ infinity.

Macro ( ) focus mode

The focus range is 0.2m. A Macro icon( ) will display on the LCD monitor when you select this focus mode.

To prevent the image from being dim, maintain the focus range at 0.2m.

Things to watch out for when taking pictures

When the Flash Off or Slow synchro mode is selected in a low lighting condition, the camera

shake warning indicator ( ) may appear on the LCD monitor. In this case, use a tripod, support the camera on a solid surface or change the flash mode to flash shot mode.

Backlight compensated shots : When taking an outdoor shot, avoid facing the sun, as the image may be dark because of the strong backlight. In backlight conditions, please use the [BACKLIGHT] in the scene shooting mode (p.35), fill-in flash (p.26), spot metering(p.38), or exposure compensation (p.32).

Avoid obstructing the lens or the flash when you capture an image.
