Hloubka ostrosti

Oblíbené portréty nebo zátiší jsou typickými příklady snímků, na nichž je neostrým pozadím dosaženo zvýraznění objektu. V závislosti na vzdálenosti od fotoaparátu jsou předměty ostré a neostré. To se nazývá „malé DOF“ nebo„velké DOF“.

Hloubka pole udává ostrou oblast okolo objektu fotografie. Malá hloubka ostrosti znamená, že oblast zaostření okolo objektu je úzká, velká DOF znamená širokou oblast ostrosti.

Snímek s malou hloubkou ostrosti vyděluje objekt na neostrém pozadí, může být pořízen teleobjektivem nebo volbou nízké hodnoty clony. Snímek s velkou hloubkou ostrosti, který poskytuje všechny objekty stejně ostře, může být pořízen širokoúhlým objektivem nebo volbou vysoké hodnoty clony.

DOF závisí na hodnotě clony

Čím je širší otvor clony (tedy nižší hodnota clony), tím se hloubka ostrosti DOF snižuje. Při stejné ohniskové vzdálenosti vede malá hodnota clony ke snímkům s nižší hloubkou ostrosti.
